The Unconventional Path

How a nuclear engineer became India's leading voice in healthcare AI innovation

🎓 Academic Foundation

My academic journey began at IIT Guwahati, where I earned my PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics. My doctoral research focused on computational fluid dynamics and reactor physics—disciplines requiring extreme precision, rigorous mathematical modeling, and deep understanding of complex systems.

Little did I know that these same principles—precision modeling, system optimization, and safety-critical thinking—would become the foundation for revolutionizing healthcare AI.

🏛️ Academic Leadership

Today, I serve as Dean of the School of Sciences at Woxsen University, where I lead five departments: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, and Computer Sciences & AI. Managing 500+ students and a diverse faculty team has taught me invaluable lessons about interdisciplinary collaboration—lessons that directly inform my approach to healthcare AI.

At Woxsen, I also head the Care and Cure Medical Facility, giving me real-world exposure to healthcare challenges and the opportunity to test VaidyaAI in a live clinical environment.

💡 The Healthcare Pivot

The "aha moment" came when I realized that healthcare diagnosis is fundamentally a pattern recognition problem—not unlike analyzing neutron flux distributions in nuclear reactors. If I could model the behavior of subatomic particles in extreme conditions, why couldn't I model disease progression and treatment outcomes?

This insight led to VaidyaAI—an AI-powered clinical decision support platform that brings reactor-grade precision to medical diagnosis and prescription generation.

"I'm not just building another health-tech startup. I'm applying nuclear engineering rigor to solve India's most pressing healthcare challenges."

🚀 Building VaidyaAI

Despite my nuclear engineering background, I taught myself web development using AI assistants like VS Code Copilot and Claude. Today, VaidyaAI has:

  • Processed 1,100+ prescriptions across multiple clinics
  • Achieved 99.7% OCR accuracy using Claude API
  • Deployed at Woxsen University's medical facility
  • Target: ₹5-6 lakh MRR within 15 months

Why This Matters

I'm not just another entrepreneur in healthcare. My background gives me a unique competitive advantage:
